Rhana Devenport, director of Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki is leaving the gallery for a new role in South Australia. Devenport is to be the Director of the Art Gallery of South Australia in Adelaide.
Regional Facilities Auckland Chief Executive, Chris Brooks, said Devenport leaves behind a ‘transformational legacy’, and has ‘positioned the gallery for current and future success with strong visitor numbers, and world class exhibition programmes’.
Highlights of Devenport’s time with Auckland Art Gallery include the highly successful Gottfried Lindauer exhibitions, which were also presented in Berlin, Pilsen and San Francisco, as well as 2014’s Light Show, and The Body Laid Bare: Masterpieces from Tate in 2017.
Before the Auckland job, Devenport was director of the Govett Brewster Art Gallery in Taranaki. She leaves on 21 September.
